Peer Mediators

Continuing their preparation for Year 6 leadership, the Year 5 students have all participated in a day of activities and formation exploring ways they can be good role models as Peer Mediators in the playgrounds. Through discussions and role-play, students practised giving I-Messages, listening and paraphrasing what they heard accurately, explored what they communicate to others in their words and body language, ways to resolve conflict and discussed the concept of prejudice. At the end of this formation day, students are then invited to nominate themselves to be a Peer Mediator, a commitment to turning up to play and help younger students in the playground during their lunch and snack times. The Year 5 students are to be congratulated on the enthusiasm and commitment they have shown in taking on this important leadership role with many, many students putting their names forward to be Peer Mediators.
