Free Vision Screening for Prep Students at Joey'
Each year, Prep families at St Joseph's are provided with the opportunity to have their children assessed through the Primary School Nurse Health Readiness Program, a Queensland Government initiative that includes free vision screening.
Good vision is essential for learning in the early years of school. Children rely on their eyesight to develop reading and writing skills, participate in classroom activities, and build confidence in their social interactions. However, vision difficulties are not always obvious and can often go unnoticed by children, parents and teachers.
Vision screening helps identify potential concerns early, enabling families to seek further assessment and support if needed. Research shows that children with healthy vision are better equipped to engage in learning and develop the foundational skills needed for academic success.
By prioritising vision health in the early years, schools, families and health professionals can work together to support every child's learning, confidence and wellbeing.
