Connecting Hearts and Classrooms.

The power of kindness can travel a long way.
This year, our Year 5 students have been learning about life at Mamuke School in Zambia through Mrs Singleton's connection with the Mamuke Acts of Hope Initiative. As they explored the challenges many children face in accessing education and essential learning resources, our students developed a deeper understanding of how they could make a difference beyond their own community.

As part of this special connection, our students wrote heartfelt letters to the children at Mamuke School, sharing stories about their lives, families and experiences at St Joseph's. Recently, they were delighted to receive photos showing the Mamuke students proudly holding and reading those letters.

The connection didn't stop there.

Inspired by what they had learned, our St Joseph's families generously donated a range of much-needed stationery and school supplies. From exercise books and pencils to classroom essentials, every contribution helped support learning opportunities for students on the other side of the world.

Seeing the supplies arrive safely at Mamuke School was a powerful reminder of the impact a caring community can have. Among the donations, one item quickly became a favourite with the students — a large box of coloured pencils that was met with great excitement and appreciation.

For our Year 5 students, this experience has been about much more than donations. It has been an opportunity to build friendships, develop empathy and gain a greater understanding of the lives of others. Through their letters and actions, they have demonstrated the St Joseph's values of compassion, service and global citizenship.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 5 students for embracing this opportunity with such enthusiasm and kindness, and we thank our families for their generous support.

Together, we are helping to build connections, understanding and hope across the world — one letter, one friendship and one act of kindness at a time.
